More than 3,400 golfers from 48 U.S. States and dozens of foreign countries are on the Grand Strand Monday morning to tee of for the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship.
The tournament will be played at 60 golf courses throughout the Grand Strand through Friday.
This is the 31st year for the annual event. The tournament is also the worldâ??s largest single-site golf tournament.
It flights players based on age, gender and handicap. After four rounds of play, all flight winners and ties will advance to Fridayâ??s World Championship Playoff at Barefoot Resortâ??s Dye Club, according to a release.
Every night this week, tournament participants are gathering at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for food and live entertainment at the "Worldâ??s Largest 19th Hole."
