A Georgetown County sheriff's deputy and his wife are charged with Cruelty to Animals.
Russell Goodale, a sheriff's office spokesman, said they received a complaint March 4th that there were three dead dogs at a home on Dennis Drive.
Deputies discovered the decaying bodies of three dogs in fenced kennels near the home. Goodale says the deputies went up to the house, where they found a female lab with nine puppies on the porch.
The sheriff's office determined the dead dogs belonged to Deputy William Baxley.
After an investigation, the sheriff's office placed Baxley on administrative leave without pay. He's charged with four counts of Cruelty to Animals.
His wife, Miranda Baxley, has also been charged with four counts of Cruelty to Animals.
