Fugitive wanted for attempted murder arrested following police chase (HCPD)

Authorities have arrested a man who was on the run from murder charges.

According to a case report, on Thursday, May 18 Horry County police received information about the location of a wanted fugitive.

Police say the man was wanted for two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The man was also wanted by Myrtle Beach Police Department and South Carolina Probation & Parole.

Horry County Police, along with the US Marshals Task Force and Horry County Narcotics tried to arrest the man in the Bi-Lo parking lot on 38th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

But, the man fled the parking lot in a car, starting a brief police chase down Little River Road, the report said.

Police say the man eventually abandoned the car and fled on foot. At one point, the foot chase led through a yard off of Little River Road.

Shortly thereafter, he was located in a section of woods off of Little River Road.

Myrtle Beach police took the man to Myrtle Beach jail since he had warrants with their agency.

Police have identified that man as Donald Dewet Yates III, 19, of Myrtle Beach.
