From cheering for Jaylend Ratliffe on the field to praying for his recovery

Thursday night, hundreds of people packed the stands at the Scotland High School gym to pray for the recovery of high school senior and star quarterback Jaylend Ratliffe.

Ratliffe was critically injured in an ATV accident on Tuesday.

He was flown to a hospital in Charlotte where he is in a medically induced coma to combat swelling of the brain.

Ratliffe and another member of the football team were injured in an ATV accident in a wooded area off of Maston Road and Cliff Gibson Road in the Laurel Hill Community, which is about 15 miles outside of Laurinburg, Tuesday night.

The other football team member had minor leg injuries and was treated at a hospital and released.

Ratliffe, WPDE's 2013 North Carolina Player of the Year, committed to play for Georgia Tech in May.
