Freeze watch elevated to freeze warning
Mon, 28 Mar 2011 19:53:07 GMT —
A Freeze Warning has been issued for parts of the area that will go into effect at 2:00 A.M. Tuesday morning and last for several hours, through 9:00 A.M.
Horry, Florence, Marion, Dillon, Darlington, Marlboro, Chesterfield, and Lee counties in South Carolina and Scotland, Robeson, Bladen, Pender, and Columbus counties in North Carolina are in the warning area.
As skies clear out overnight, temperatures will fall into the 30's across the area. Many locations away from the ocean will see temperatures around freezing for several hours after midnight.
Several locations in the Pee Dee and along the Borderbelt could even see them drop below freezing. Areas of frost may develop, which could threaten tender plants and vegetation that may have blossomed already.
Take necessary precautions and bring potted plants in or cover plants that are outside with sheets or burlap to keep them insulated.
While temperatures closer to the immediate coast are expected to remain above freezing, the possibility of patchy frost can't be ruled out.
