Woman and men arrested on child sexual abuse, incest charges to remain in jail

Bill Mannix / Police at Chez Joey on March 3, 2016.

Four people, one woman and three men, who were arrested and charged after police say they sexually abused two young children will remain in jail.

The charges come after Horry County Police Detectives received a report on Jan. 25 about sexual assault to children.

Detectives received information that two young children said they were sexually assaulted by their parents and friends of their parents. Forensic interviews of the children revealed that the sexual assaults had occurred at multiple locations in Horry County, according to a news release.

Police say the two victims were four years old at the time of the assaults, but are now five.

According to a police report, the children told a counselor that they had been forced to have sex with siblings and their parents.

The woman and two of the men were at a court hearing Friday afternoon where a judge determined that they will remain in jail until an appearance before a circuit court judge.

The third man left the courtroom before the hearing, having waived his rights to it.

The victims said some of the assaults happened at "the dance club," which was identified in the police report as the strip club Chez Joey in Myrtle Beach.

The victims said their mother worked at the club as a dancer, and they would go with her until she got off work.

Today, the Horry County Police Department, along with several other jurisdictions, went to several locations to find and apprehend the suspects. They were also at Chez Joey today collecting evidence.

WPDE is not identifying the people charged to protect the identities of the children.

The suspects were taken into custody and are now being detained at the Horry County Detention Center.
