Former Marion County judge arrested

Former Marion County Magistrate Samuel Robert Drose was arrested by the State Law Enforcement Division last week and charged with Possession of Other Controlled Substances Scheduled One Through Five First Offense, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant says on May 14


Drose did unlawfully attempt to possess Oxycodone and actually take possession of a substance believed by him to be Oxycodone.

It says the crime took place on Old Ebenezer Road in or near Latta.

We're told Drose resigned as a Magistrate following his arrest.

He is also an attorney in Marion.

Drose was released from the Marion County Detention Center on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for August.
