Former Florence County councilman in ICU after being attacked by dogs

Former Florence County councilman and retired veterinarian Dr. Morris Anderson ,76, is in the intensive care unit after he was attacked by at least six dogs Tuesday on his property in Florence County.

Anderson's daughter Catherine Anderson Wyse says her father is in a medically induced coma and will have his third surgery for his injuries Monday.

Wyse says her father was locking up a gate on the property when the dogs attacked him. She says he was bitten several times and suffered a broken leg.

Anderson's brothers found him, Wyse says, and called 911. She adds he's expected to be in ICU for the next three weeks before he's moved to a regular room.

We're told the dogs were a mix of lab and pit bull. We're waiting to learn if they were strays or pets.

The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control has quarantined the dogs for 10 days.

Wyse says her family is thankful for all the love and support shown to them by the community during this time.

Anderson served on Florence County Council from 2004-2012 and retired as a veterinarian after 39 years.
