      Florence to help Oklahoma tornado victims


      Groups across Florence County are coming together to provide relief to the Oklahoma tornado victims.


      They're collecting donations at the Florence Civic Center on Tuesday, May 28 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.


      The American Red Cross will set up a donation shelter in the upper parking lot area of the civic center. It needs money the most. Volunteers will be able to accept various payment methods.


      It's also collecting the following items:


      Bottled Water


      Gatorade/PowerAde


      Work Gloves


      Flash Lights


      Batteries


      Non-Perishable Food


      Individually wrapped snacks


      Hand Sanitizer


      Diapers


      Baby Wipes


      Infant Formula


      Sunscreen


      Tooth brushes


      Toothpaste


      Hair brushes


      Soap


      Hand towels (new please)


      Juice Boxes


      Paper Towels


      Toilet Paper


      Shampoo


      Feminine products


      Hand/body lotion


      *Please no clothing, furniture or household items


      The Red Cross also suggests donating blood. A Mobile Blood Unit will be parked in the parking lot, collecting donations.


      If you can't make it, you can make a ten dollar donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief fund by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999. The donation will show up on your wireless bill, or be deducted from your balance if you have a prepaid phone.
