Florence school board to meet about superintendent search tonight

The Florence District One school board will meet tonight and hear an update on the search for a superintendent.

The board was expected to name an interim superintendent on last week but did not.

The district's current superintendent, Allie Brooks, is leaving next month.

Board members say they've talked with a retired superintendent out of Columbia who they may hire for the interim position, and they'll meet with him next week.

So far, the board has spent nearly $17,000 in the search and came up with three finalists, but couldn't reach an agreement on which one to hire.
