A shooting during the robbery of a pawn shop has left one man dead and a woman in the hospital.

NewsChannel 15 has learned a woman who was shot during a robbery in Florence, along with her co-worker, was able to call 9-1-1.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, police say a man with a gun walked intoRick's Pawn Shop on West Lucas Street and robbed and shot two employees.

Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews says Chris Deaver, 33, died on the scene.

We're told his female co-worker is in the hospital, but is expected to be okay.

We talked with a couple of regular customers of the pawn shop who say both victims are good people who didn't deserve to be shot.

"Everyday I go there, they would greet me, and they were kind, and they would sell me DVD's, and after that they were wonderful." said Jimmy Fields of Florence.

"It's just a hurtful thing. I dropped everything and came here when I heard just now what happened. I just dropped it and just came, because like I say, I know them real well," said Yolanda Wilder of Florence.

Police tracked down a suspect near Stackley Street, which is just a few blocks from the store. At this point, he has not been charged.
