Florence police recognized for outstanding efforts in DUI enforcement in 2016
Florence, S.C. (WPDE) —
On Thursday, Florence Police Department recognized two local officers were their outstanding efforts in DUI enforcement in 2016.
According to a news release, 2016, Florence Police made 181 DUI cases.
Of those cases, Lieutenant Mark Mims made 10 cases, and Patrolman Sam Ervin made 39 cases.
As such, FPD Chief Allen Heidler presented Mims with a bronze DUI Hero lapel pin, and Ervin with a silver DUI Hero lapel pin.
The DUI Hero lapel pins were issued by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety's Office of Highway Safety and Justice programs in conjunction with the 2016 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge Ceremonies, which award officers for their commitment to stopping impaired driving.
Lieutenant Mike Brandt said the department is proud of Mims and Ervin, and their efforts to keep Florence safe.
