Jerry Dalenta is debt free after he won $200,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.
"I'm not a millionaire," Dalenta joked. "But I sure am lucky!"
He spent $10 on a scratch-off ticket at the Save Mart 4 on E. Palmetto St. in Florence and immediately called his wife.
The couple admits winning on the $200,000 Cash Xcitement ticket came as a welcome shock.
"It's one of those things you'll never forget," Dalenta said.
The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 600,000.
Save Mart 4 isn't the only lucky lottery destination in Florence. A local woman, who asked not to have her name released, stopped at the C Mart on S. Irby St. last month and scratched a $10 Big Money ticket to win $250,000.
Like Dalenta, she is debt free.
"I felt like a whole new person walking in to work," she said after winning the cash. "It was my lucky day."
Odds of winning one of the four remaining top prizes in the Big Money game are 1 in 500,000.
For selling the claimed winning ticket, C Mart received a commission of $2,500.
