Florence man pleads to possessing child pornography

Andrew Stephen Jackson, 44, of Florence, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on Thursday, according to a release from the United States Attorney's office in Columbia.

Evidence presented at the plea hearing showed that Jackson was trading child pornography with an individual in Australia in October 2010. A search warrant was executed at Jackson's residence and thousands of images of child pornography were found on his computers, according to the release.

The judge has not ruled on Jackson's sentencing yet. Jackson will be sentenced after the judge reviews a U.S. Probation Office report.

The maximum penalty for possession of child pornography is 10 years in prison and/or a fine of $250,000, according to the release.
