Florence County lawmakers plan to release state budget's impact on county

Florence County Senator Hugh Leatherman (R), Representative Phillip Lowe (R) and Representative Kristopher Crawford (R) will hold a news conference Tuesday morning at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.

Leatherman's press aid Robbie Dawkins says they will discuss the state's budget and how it will affect money Florence County receives from the state through the Local Government Fund.

Officials say Florence County could lose roughly $700,000 in state money through the fund this year.

We're waiting to learn if the county will be spared from the cuts.

The General Assembly passed the $22.8 billion budget last week.

This week, lawmakers will return to take up vetoes by Governor Nikki Haley, needing a two-thirds vote in both chambers to overturn them.
