Fire damaged DeFalco's Automotive and Towing on Highway 17 South in Surfside Beach Monday night.

When the Surfside Beach Fire Department arrived before 11 o'clock, heavy smoke was coming from the building.

Firefighters had to cut through an overhead garage door to get into the building, and they found a large fire in the center bay, according to Dan Cimini, Surfside Beach Fire Chief.

Officials say the fire was accidental and started in a golf cart, but they were able to contain it to the shop and it did not spread to offices.

There was minimal damage and the business was able to open this morning.
