A Robeson County fireman suffered a broken ankle after falling from a ladder that was 17 feet in the air while battling a fire Wednesday night.
Tony Summers was making sure the fire was out in the attic at Robinwood Apartments on Second Street in Red Springs when he fell, according to Red Springs Fire Chief Tim Beasley.
Beasley says Summers is a fireman with Smith Fire Department and was providing mutual aid on the apartment fire.
Summers was sent to Southeastern Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
The fire only impacted one building at the apartment complex.
Four families were displaced and are receiving help from the Red Cross.
