Fifth shooting incident since Saturday reported in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach police are investigating a shooting incident that sent one person to the hospital early Wednesday morning, according to a news release.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Mr. Joe White Boulevard around 2 a.m. Wednesday for a shooting, said Lt. Joey Crosby, with Myrtle Beach police.

When officers arrived, they found one man who told police he was sitting in his car when one suspect got into his car, pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

He told police that a second suspect stood outside his car. He tried to run away and was shot.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Crosby said the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation and refused police involvement. The victim would also not allow his vehicle to be examined for evidence.

This is the fifth shooting incident Myrtle Beach police have been called to since Saturday.

On Saturday, police responded to one near 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard and on Sunday one was reported near 6th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard.

Business owners have also expressed their concerns about the recent shootings.
