Fatal wreck reported in Darlington

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly accident that happened on Indian Branch Road in Darlington County just before 1:00 Monday afternoon.

Three people were in the car when it was traveling westbound on Indian Branch Road. The car ran off the road and hit a tree, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Kathleen Ann Nance, of Hartsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Todd Hardee, Darlington County Coroner, according to a release from the coroner's office.

Nance was the front seat passenger in the car, according to the Highway Patrol.

The driver of the car was airlifted to McLeod hospital and an 8-year-old who was also a passenger was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

The wreck occurred on Indian Branch Road between Calvary Road and Bethel Road, according to the highway patrol's website.

All three people were wearing seat belts and no charges have been filed in the case, the highway patrol said.

This incident is under investigation by the Darlington County Coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
