Thursday afternoon, North Myrtle Beach lifeguards rescued a family of three from Hogs Inlet.
According to the city's spokesman, Pat Dowling, a father and his two daughters tried to walk over to Waites Island during an outgoing tide.
They soon found themselves unable to touch the bottom.
The current associated with the outgoing tide began to draw them out to sea.
The lifeguards were able to bring them back to shore.
The family is OK and declined to go to a hospital to be checked out.
