Family looks for answers in fatal hit and run cold case

Ten years ago, a Marlboro County man was killed on his motorcycle in a hit and run accident. That case remains unsolved and his family continues to look for answers.

Saturday afternoon, the family of Clyde Townsend held a special memorial for him, outside of Bennettsville. They wore t-shirts and displayed pictures with his face on them.

On July 16, 2000, Townsend was riding his motorcycle on Highway 9 in Bennettsville when he was hit and killed by a car. His family believes there's someone out there with answers.

"No one has told us any information about the death of Clyde," said Diane Townsend, Clyde's mother, "The police department, nobody and we want people out there to hear me say we want y'all to help us with solving this case about my son Clyde, cause 10 years is a very very long time."

"somebody out there knows," added Laura Adams, "Somebody knows the night he got killed. Somebody locally knows what happened because there's too many things that's being unanswered."

The case remains open with SC Highway Patrol.
