Extra deputies at Lake City High School following social media threat, student arrested

Florence Co. Detention Center/ Daysyannie Aremony Gamble, 17, is charged with disturbing schools after she made a threat against Lake City High School.

Extra deputies were put at Lake City High School on Wednesday as a precaution following a possible threat, according to Chief Deputy Glen Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

Kirby says Daysyannie Aremony Gamble, 17, is charged with disturbing schools after police say she made a threat against the school.

Kirby says Gamble is a student at Lake City High School.

Police say the threat was posted on social media shortly after midnight and said there would be a mass shooting at Lake City High School and also the Lake City Alternative School.

She's being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Several parents sent in a posting on Snapchat saying, "LAKE CITY HIGH SCHOOL AND ACE IM COMING FOR YOU TOMORROW MORNING! YOU HAVEN'T SEEN A SCHOOL SHOOTING YET!"

Some parents said they're worried because you just can't take anything for granted anymore with so many school shootings across the nation. They're thankful more officers will be at the school Wednesday to make sure students and staff are safe.

Lake City High School was put on lockdown Tuesday after a weapon was found inside a student's car.

“We are investigating all threats to our schools as soon as they come to our attention and if the facts warrant, we will make charges whether the threats turn out to be real or not,” Chief Glen Kirby stated. “We will have a zero tolerance for all firearms brought on to school property. The safety and security of our children at school is our top priority.”
