An Horry County Sheriff's deputy who died on Sunday was laid to rest in Nichols Wednesday evening.
Timothy Causey, 50, was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after the Windsor Green Condo fire. Causey was then diagnosed with H1N1 or Swine Flu while hospitalized. He was being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he died on Sunday.
"What an emotional day for us," said Sgt. Jeff Benton with the Horry County Sheriff's Office.
More than 300 officers and fire personnel from across the state attended the funeral.
"We're one big family, and when something happens to that member of the family, the whole family grieves," said Sgt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department.
It has yet to be determined if Causey's death was due to the Windsor Green fire. An autopsy has been done, but results have not come back yet.
Causey was buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
He leaves behind two daughters and a wife.
