Driver leads deputies on chase from Georgetown Co. to Charleston Co.

Georgetown County sheriff's deputies need the community's help finding a driver that led them on a chase, according to Carrie Cuthbertson, spokesperson for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies working traffic enforcement clocked a driver going 95 miles per hour in the south bound lane of Highway 17 in southern Georgetown County Thursday night around 8.

Deputies tried to pull the driver over. The driver of the 2003 Ford Expedition continued on Highway 17 into Charleston County several miles while still being chased by deputies.

The driver eventually made a u-turn and pulled over, then took off into the woods, according to Cuthbertson.

Sheriff's deputies with Georgetown County and Charleston County looked for the driver without success.

The Expedition was towed.

The incident is still being investigated.
