DOT advises drivers to use caution in work zones and observe posted traffic control signs and reduced speed limits.
The schedule may change due to inclement weather.
The US-501 northbound widening project will add an additional travel lane from where the existing third lane ends at Tanger Outlets to the other side of the Gardner Lacy Road intersection (in the direction of leaving the beach.)
This will bring the total number of through lanes in this section to three. In addition, most of the existing turn lanes and acceleration lanes will be rebuilt.
The project is expected to continue through the end of 2014.
