Wed, 04 Apr 2012 14:42:33 GMT —
DarlingtonDixie Youth Baseball Board of Directors released a statement to NewsChannel 15 saying they've relieved Stuart Berry from all coaching roles pending the outcome of the charges against him.
Last month, Highway Patrol charged Berry with felony DUI and leaving the scene of a collision with death.
Lance Corporal Judd Jones said Mary Frances Williams, 54, was traveling south on Society Hill Road when Berry, who was riding an ATV, entered the intersection from Watkins Drive.
Judd said when Williams swerved to avoid the ATV, she hit a pickup truck traveling north head-on.
Williams died from injuries suffered in the crash.
Berry remains out of jail on bond.
The decision by the Dixie Youth board is supported by guidelines adopted by Darlington Dixie Youth Baseball, which are set forth by the National Recreation and Parks Association. (http://www.nrpa.org/)
No word on when his trial will take place.
