Direct Air is hit with $9.6M in fines

WORCESTER - Defunct charter air service Direct Air owes nearly $10 million in fines to federal regulators for suddenly canceling all its flights and leaving passengers stranded.

Direct Air, the sole company to provide passenger service out of Worcester Regional Airport, suspended service in March and filed for bankruptcy protection soon after. The Myrtle Beach

based company is being liquidated in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Worcester.
