Horry County police arrested Ricky Mazique, 47, of Dillon, saying he's responsible for two thefts from gas stations.

Sunday night, a caller from a gas station at Highway 501 and Gardner Lacy Road told police there was a suspicious man there who may have been the armed man who stole cigarettes from a clerk at another gas station Friday night.

By the time officers arrived at Highway 501 and Gardner Lacy, the suspicious person was gone.

But at the same time, at a nearby Kangaroo on Highway 544, a clerk called police saying a man went behind the counter and stole her purse.

Police determined it was the same person, and eventually found him at another gas station at Hwy. 544 and Cox Ferry Road, where they stopped him.

Mazique was arrested for not having a valid driver's license.

Police say they found the clerk's purse and her ATM card in Mazique's possession.

They then charged him with the Friday night armed robbery at the Kangaroo.

Mazique is charged with Failure to Display Vehicle License, No Valid Driver's License, Petty Larceny, Financial Transaction Card Theft, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony.
