Marvin Alston, 48, has been fired from his job as a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff's Office after being charged with DUI First Offense and Child Endangerment, according to Marion County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Chuck Page.

Florence police arrested Alston following a traffic stop on Edisto Drive last Friday evening.

Police say someone called 911 after noticing Alston was driving erratically and swerving off the road.

Officers spotted the car and stopped it.

Alston consented to a field sobriety test, according to the police report.

His blood alcohol level was .08, according to the Florence County Detention Center's booking website.

Alston was charged with Child Endangerment because he had his 13-year-old child in the car with him, Page says.

Florence police say there is dash

cam video of the traffic stop.

Alston worked at the Marion County Sheriff's Department for about one year.

He was previously employed by the Marion City Police Department.
