Coroner identifies man found dead at Marion County home;Two charged

Two Marion men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 34 year-old Byron Samuel Wright. His body was discovered on Marion Road on August 11, 2017.

Derell Dewitt Wiggins, 26 and Landy Korey Davis, 28 are each are charged with murder in the death of Byron Wright, 38, according to Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace.

Wright was found shot to death Friday morning under a man's car port on West Marion Road in Marion.

Wallace said they're still trying to determine a motive.

Wiggins is on parole for breaking into motor vehicles, according to South Carolina Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCPPP)

SCPPP Davis is on parole for receiving stolen goods.

Both men are being held in the Marion County Detention Center.

Cordell Crawford said he walked over to his brother's house next door and found a man lying under the car port.

Crawford added the man appeared to be sleep.

He said he then called his brother and his brother called 911.

Crawford said when deputies and EMS arrived, that's when he learned the man was dead.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identified the victim as 38-year-old Byron Wright.

Wallace said the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is helping in the investigation.

Marion County has had two murders in the past three weeks.

Richardson said the man was shot to death. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Richardson said the man's name will be released when his next of kin is notified.
