Robeson County man killed in house fire, wife hurt trying to save him

A man died Friday morning in a house fire on Highway 301 South in the Raynham community between Lumberton and Rowland, according to Lt. Brian Duckworth with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Duckworth said the man’s wife got hurt trying to go back inside the home to save her husband.

He added she was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Duckworth said the fire appears to have started in the attic of the home.

The wife was in the kitchen when it filled with black smoke, Duckworth said.

He added they’re investigating to determine what started the fire.

The NC Bureau of Alchol, Tobacco and Firearms are helping in the investigation.
