Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken says two people have died in a house fire on Creek Drive in the Quinby community of Florence County around 9:30 Saturday night.
The victims died of smoke inhalation, von Lutcken added.
Neighbors say they heard all the sirens and just knew something terrible had happened.
"I saw the smoke and saw the fire trucks and sheriff's department. Just came out to see what was going on and find my neighbors house up in flames," said Henry Jacobs.
Lowell Brown said she was also home at the time of the fire, but thought her neighbors were out of town.
"I went back into the house and got their number and called their cell to let them know their house was on fire because I thought they were away for the weekend," Brown explained.
Jacobs added two people live in the home. He says he feels bad about the loss of life and home for the family.
"Pretty scary to see your neighbor house burn this time of the year. It's bad to lose your home. My heart goes out to them," said Jacobs.
The Florence County Sheriff's Office is helping Windy Hill Fire Department investigate the fire.
