Crews respond to fire at IGA in Marion

Crews are investigating an early morning fire at the IGA grocery store on South Main Street in Marion.

Every fire department in Marion County responded to the fire including Windy Hill out of Florence County

and the city of Dillon's Fire Department.

It started around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The call initially came into 911 as a burglar alarm at IGA.

It took crews more than three hours to get the fire under control and contained.

Officials say they still haven't determined what caused the massive fire.

Crews have town down the front of the building, after the center of the building collapsed.

The store had been there for more than 50 years, according to an employee.

Many residents told us the store really served the community and helped people without adequate transportation be able to walk to get their groceries.
