Crews respond to fire at AVM in Marion

Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at the AVM plant on Highway 76 in Marion Friday morning, according to officials with Marion City Fire.
Officials say they weren't sure of the extent of the fire, but said other fire departments in Marion County were called in to help.
The Mullions Fire Rescue Department said on Twitter that the fire was placed under control around 10:10 a.m. and that chemicals were involved in the fire.
Three AVM employees are being checked out by EMS officials, according to Mullins Fire Department tweets.
AVM Industries has been headquartered in Marion for more than 20 years.
The company's website says the company manufactures and supplies a wide variety of gas springs, temperature controlled gas springs, anti-corrosive gas springs, dampers, self-centering dampers and vacuum actuators in the automotive industry.
