Crews investigate overnight house fire in Darlington

Darlington City firefighters are at the scene of a fire at a house that caught fire at the corner of Doneraile Street just before 3:30 Friday morning.

The home had been abandoned for the past nine years, according to Darlington City Fire Chief Pat Cavanaugh.

Cavanaugh adds the fire was pretty large at one point with flames shooting through the roof.

He says crews have it under control except for a few hot spots.

The Darlington Police Department is helping to investigate a cause.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
