Crews battling fire at old restaurant in Bennettsville

Firefighters are at the scene of a fire at the old Farron's restaurant on West Main Street in Bennettsville.

Fire officials say the building was covered in flames and smoke when they got on scene.

They say it appears the building maybe destroyed by the fire.

Farron's closed about seven years ago after being in business for more than 40 years.

We're told the property had been recently purchased by a local church.

We're waiting on more information about the fire and post more details as they become available.

Bennettsville police called in the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to help investigate.

Police say fire is suspicious because building had no power.
