A pillar in the Conway community is closing its doors after 16 years and thousands of meals.

Crady's Eclectic Cuisine on Main Street was opened by the Whitley family with the help of their son, Adam Whitley, in 2001.

"Every detail that you're able to see in the restaurant plus the menu were all Adam's ideas," said restaurant owner Lester Whitley.

But, tragedy struck the Whitley's not long after the business began.

"Our son died in 2009 and we wanted to keep the restaurant open--because he was our chef--for as long as we could and it just became more and more difficult to juggle finances," said restaurant owner Barbara Whitley.

The family continued serving three meals each day until they were finally forced to make the hard decision to close in July 2017.

"In God's way, it's going to be resolved for us and we know in His will the best is meant for us," said Lester.

Since the bittersweet announcement, the Whitleys have received an outpouring of support.

"People really loved us, that's the only way I can describe it. They loved being here, they loved the atmosphere, they loved the ambiance, the food, obviously. We had wonderful servers. So, it's gratifying to see that people are going to miss us," said Barbara.

In a post to the Crady's Facebook page, Barbara said she does not know what will come next, but she has faith that something good will.
