CPR performed on man on the beach

UPDATE: The man has died, according to Deputy Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard. We are waiting for autopsy results from the Horry County Coroner's Office.

A man washed on shore Thursday near 72nd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

Lifeguards saw the man about 1:30 pm and performed CPR until EMS arrived.

They took the man to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

A woman on vacation who helped the lifeguards describes what she saw happen.

"The lifeguard was there. I said, 'I am a registered respiratory therapist, do you need help?' He said yes, so I gave two rescue breaths and started compressions," said Katie Sigman of West Virginia.
