Couple chased in crash that killed a Florence nurse home from hospital

Relatives say a 41-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman have been released from the hospital after being hurt in a crash that killed a Florence nurse earlier this month.

Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff's Office say Georgia Woodberry, 31, was chasing the couple in their Cheverolet Impala on National Cemetary Road towards Florence the morning of April 5th.

Officers say Woodberry shot into the Impala and hit the 47-year-old woman in the leg.

They say the Impala drove into the intersection of Freedom Boulevard and hit a Camaro driven by Lori Pruett, 36.

She died from injuries suffered in the accident.

Pruett had worked at Carolinas Hospital System for just one month. Her co-workers say she came to Florence in January with her husband because his employer transferred him to the area.

Woodberry is charged with murder, attempted murder, discharging a firearm and stalking.

Relatives of the 41-year-old man, who police say is a victim in this case, was the ex-boyfriend of Woodberry and she had been stalking him for quite some time.

Relatives say the two share a 17-month-old daughter.

Woodberry remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing from a circuit court judge.
