Couple charged in Heather Elvis murder face new charges for Medicaid fraud

Tammy Moorer and Sidney Moorer, who have been charged with the murder of Heather Elvis, are now also facing charges for Medicaid fraud, according to arrest warrants.

Both are charged with filing a false statement on application for Medicaid assistance and obtaining a signature under false pretenses.

Signed affidavits state that both Tammy and Sidney Moorer misrepresented the household income by not disclosing all the income from self-employment including that at Palmetto Maintenance Company and Magical Travel.

As a result of this misrepresentation they received Medicaid benefits they were not entitled to receive at a value of over $10,000.

Mark Powell, the spokesman for the South Carolina Attorney General, says these charges are not connected to the Heather Elvis case.
