Couple arrested for having sex on boat at Bucksport Marina

James Russell Nichols

An Horry County couple was arrested on Saturday around 5 p.m. for Indecent Exposure after witnesses say the two were having sex on a boat in view of other boaters, according to the police report.

James Russell Nichols, 46, of Conway and Gloria Sawyer, 51, of Aynor were both arrested.

When officers arrived at Bucksport Marina in Conway, the dockmaster said a customer complained that the couple had been having sex on a boat, which was docked, the report stated.

The dockmaster said after he received the first complaint, he went and told the couple "that behavior is not allowed at the marina," and after, the dockmaster felt the situation was handled.

The report said the dockmaster continued to close up the store when other customers came to him complaining about the couple having sex on the boat again.

The dockmaster walked back to the boat and asked the couple to leave but a DNR officer arrived and had Nichols and Sawyer stay on scene until Horry County police arrived.

Both Nichols and Sawyer denied they were having sex and that Nichols was rubbing Sawyer's legs because "they were sore from her medical condition," the report added.

Nichols and Sawyer were taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
