Conway held their first River Read festival at the Riverfront Park in Conway Saturday.
The festival was open to the public and focused on encouraging children to read.
Local authors, firefighters, police officers, and athletes read to children.
Organizations handed out books by age groups and had fun activities for children of all ages.
The city hopes to make this an annual event and have literacy be a focus in their town.
"Literacy is everything when it comes to expanding your horizons, building a lifestyle, a career, being all that you can be," said Conway City Councilman Barbara Blain-Olds.
