Conway soldier returns home from 8-month deployment

A Conway soldier, who spent the last 8 months deployed overseas in Afghanistan, came home to applause Wednesday night.

Omar Anthony Fitzgerald Ross Jr. was greeted by friends and family Wednesday night at Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Ross is a combat medic with the US Army and has received several awards for his service.

We asked the former Early College High School student how it feels to be home. "Words can't describe it. After being over there for so long, finally being back with family and friends, back home safe, it's just a great feeling."

Ross is currently stationed at Fort Polk., Louisiana.
