"Chuck Jordan has been an asset to this community and to Conway High School for more than 30 years," Alicia Todd said. "He has been influential to football players, cheerleaders, basketball players, any athlete and quite frankly any student."

Many fans knew Jordan, and had him as a teacher during their time at Conway High School.

Those who support Jordan's early retirement said it's time for the community to focus on first downs again.

"I think it's a great decision, since we have already been through this as a community before, so I think it's a great idea that he resign peacefully and I think it will be good," LarRue Galloway said.
