Contractor loses SCDNR contract over Folly Beach alligator shooting

A 10 foot alligator washed up on the shore of Folly Beach on May 14 and contractor Raymond Covington was called in by SCDNR to handle the animal.

The contractor who shot and killed an alligator that washed up on the shore at Folly Beach will no longer be used by the Department of Natural Resources.

DNR officials confirmed Wednesday that Raymond Covington of Nuisance Wildlife Removal Service will no longer be used by the state agency to handle nuisance wildlife calls.
