Sunday night about 100 people attended the final course of the Coastal Uncorked food and wine festival.
Seven chefs from Grand Strand restaurants battled each other for a chance to defeat reigning champion chef Mike Mckinnon from The Cypress Room at Island Vista.
Cookbook authors Matt Lee and Ted Lee; and Tony Hirsh, the wine chairman for the festival, judged the event.
The seven top contenders include: Eric Masson from The Brentwood Restaurant; Andrew Gardo from Sea Captain's House; Brad Daniels from Croissants Bistro & Bakery; Eric Wagner from Horry Georgetown Technical College; Andreann Geise from Mykonos; Mike McKinnon from Cypress Room; and James Clark from Waterscapes.
Before the food challenge, diners ate from tasting tables from area restaurants that included sushi, grits, specialty desserts, and drinks.
