Myrtle Beach police responded to the Palms Beach and Surf, located at 6613 North Kings Highway where they found 34 baby Red-Eared Pond Slider turtles sitting in a ten gallon aquarium, according to a police report.
In the report, officers noted that most of the turtles were lethargic, covered in fungus and trying to get out of the water.
The report also states the aquarium had no top on it and no lighting or radiant heat was provided.
The turtles were seized and transported to Alligator Adventure for immediate housing and care.
According to the report, the store owner wasn't in the store at the time, but warrants will be sought. The store clerk was issued a uniform ordinance summons for the sale and exhibition of wild animals.
