Suspended Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker is on trial this week , accused of several crimes, including giving too many perks to inmates.
Court officials say a deputy testified Wednesday that Parker told him he would be indicted or fired if he bothered two certain inmates.
Those are the inmates whom Parker is accused of giving preferential treatment.
In the trial on Wednesday, a state corrections official also took the stand. Officials say he told jurors the inmates weren't approved to live outside the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
The state is expected to wrap its case up by the end of the week. The defense could start Monday.
