Cheap labor brings Frontier Communications to Myrtle Beach
Union leaders in Idaho say Frontier Communications is adding jobs in Myrtle Beach, while laying off workers in their state.
Frontier held a job fair last month, after announcing plans to hire 110 people for a new call center in Myrtle Beach.
The head of the communications workers union in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho says the company is shutting down the facility there and laying off 100 workers, just to get cheaper labor in Myrtle Beach.
He added that Idaho workers made $15-$20 an hour, while Myrtle Beach employees will start at $11 an hour.
Our calls to Frontier were not returned.
