Myrtle Beach police have now charged James Junior Littles, 46, of Loris, with Hit and Run in an Accident Involving Death, Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way on a Left Turn, and Driving Under Suspension.
Jimmy Westmoreland, 72, died Friday around 8 p.m. according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
The cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head.
Police say Littles ran a stop sign at Beach Place and North Ocean Boulevard about 8:20 a.m. last Wednesday.
That caused Westmoreland to try to maneuver around the car and fall, police say.
Myrtle Beach Police said Littles took off after the wreck, and Horry County police officers later found his car in Loris.
Police questioned Littles and he turned himself in Wednesday night.
Littles is being held in the Myrtle Beach Jail without bond.
